The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare



This book is a collaboration between Cassandra Clare and fellow authors who contributed novellas about the famous Magnus Bane, High Warlock of Brooklyn, New York. Magnus Bane is a major character within the Shadowhunter series because of his constant involvement with the Shadowhunters and Downworlder's alike. Any reader who reads this book will notice the time stamps for every entry along with his current location. Within the text readers get an in-depth look at who Magnus Bane is as a person and how he interacts with other characters in the Shadowhunter series.
After I finished reading this book I realized there was so much depth to Magnus Bane and how strong his character is. The reason why I think Magnus is such a genuinely strong character in the series is the fact that he is immortal and is able to out live everyone. His immortality may be a blessing considering he will have endless time to travel the world and witness the progression of modern technology. The only downfall to being immortal is watching those that he cares for pass away. To endure that kind of loss continuously throughout his life makes him strong, and the fact that he continues to open his heart makes him relatable to readers. As a reader, he makes me want to continue taking risks in life and not to dwell on things that I can't change.

This lovely book is another great addition to the Shadowhunter book series. Cassandra Clare and co-writer Wesley Chu spin a unique tale of romance and adventure between Magnus Bane (Warlock) and Alec Lightwood (Shadowhunter). Yes, that's right, we have a same-sex relationship between a Shadowhunter and Warlock. After surviving an epic battle against Valentine Morgenstern, and then Alec "coming out" in front of the Clave by kissing Magnus, it's time for some relaxation. What better way then to go on a cross country European trip with your boyfriend? Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

Chain of Gold is the first book of The Last Hour series written by the outstanding author Cassandra Clare. I recently read this book during the pandemic and lets just say it was phenomenal! Here's what you need to know when you start to read this book: First, this book takes place several years later after The Infernal Device series (Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and Clockwork Princess). Second, this story is based on the next Shadowhunter generation which includes Will Herondale and Tessa Gray's children, James and Lucy Herondale, and other Shadowhunter families in the past series. Not only are we being introduced to new characters and the dynamics of their families, but we learn that demons haven't made their appearance in a while.
