The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

The Infernal Devices is a trilogy series that the famous author Cassandra Clare has published in the past. This trilogy has an outstanding setting which is in London England during the Victorian period. Regardless of the setting, this is still a shadowhunter series and there's trouble brewing on the horizon. It's up to the three main characters, Tessa Gray, Jem Castairs, and Will Herondale to stop what is coming. Each character is unique and developed extraordinary well to provide any reader with the ability to relate even though the time period is set around 1870's. What does the 1870's look like you may ask? Well, it includes ladies that wear corsets and men wear suits.  If you need a visual the movie Gone with the Wind, is a great example of fashion.

Our beloved characters are trying to solve a mystery and plot that includes Tessa Gray and her unique ability to shapeshift into other beings dead or alive. That's right ladies and gentlemen this young girl can change her shape and look like someone else. So, what does that make Tessa Gray? Well, she's a warlock and a very special one at that because not all warlocks can do that. Of course, when Will rescues her from the Black Sisters (witches) and brings her back to the London Institute he doesn't know what she truly is. Here's another tidbit she doesn't have a WARLOCK mark, which usually is something physical on their body. For example, Magnus Bane who's a warlock (he's in every book) that has cat-like eyes which is his mark, but other warlocks have different marks. Anyways, after the daring rescue Tessa gets to meet more of the Shadowhunters and other Downworlders (vampires, warlocks, werewolves, and the Fae). During the course of the books, she begins to realize her parentage is quite surprising and shocking considering she's part Shadowhunter and Warlock. Now this is unheard of in the Shadowhunter world this type of parental lineage, and that's what makes her so valuable and wanted by her captors, Mortmain and clockwork creatures.
While Tessa is being cared for by those in the Institute, Will and Jem are by her side throughout the series not only for protection, but they both love her too! Talk about a love triangle. This doesn't stop the trio when it comes to conquering Mortmain and his clockwork creatures which prevents the destruction of the Shadowhunters. The battle is won and celebrations commence while declarations of love are told to close out the series. This is truly a marvelous series to read and I believe many readers no matter the age would enjoy. If you have the time read and enjoy the series that I love so much.
